Since 1947, Bupa Global's sole purpose has been to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives. It supports the healthcare needs of individuals, families, and businesses. Through Bupa Global, their international health insurance plans, Bupa Global customers enjoy premium benefits and services, both at home and around the world. Bupa services 15.5 million health insurance customers and provides healthcare to around 14.5 million people through their clinics and hospitals worldwide.
Bupa was relying on a variety of proprietary and legacy HIPAA formats to handle data messaging. This process was rapidly becoming more and more inefficient, latent, and was slowing down business processes and hindering the sharing of data and engagement with their partners. Their current formats would also eventually be considered non-compliant and restrict Bupa’s ability to remain agile in the fast-changing market. They were falling behind the times and needed to adjust to remain competitive and agile.
Bupa made the decision to consolidate data messaging and upgrade to the latest HIPAA standards to realign their business partners in the North American markets.
Working with many Bupa teams, TwoConnect developed and delivered a modern Azure-based, BizTalk Server-based integration app enabling Bupa to interact with multiple business partners using current standard HIPAA compliant messages. The integration app easily consolidated data from multiple internal sources to provide business partners with a single, reliable feed of all Bupa transactions.
In addition, Two Connect developed an Azure based web app to enable Bupa personnel to quickly remediate common errors in incoming data, and thus significantly shorten the processing times.
Bupa now has a streamline process for partners who can send HIPAA transactions across all of Bupa’s internal systems rather than relying on a variety of proprietary and legacy systems.
Because this solution was Azure cloud-based, Bupa saved significant costs in on-premise infrastructure, process redundancy, overall efficiency, and reliability of data and information across their platform and with their North American partners.
